Volunteer Spotlight: Chip Camp

Hailing from Floyd County, Chip Camp joined Literacy NRV as a volunteer tutor in February of 2022. Since then, he's gone on to tutor adult learners one-to-one and teach our MoneyWi$e financial literacy program in partnership with Floyd County Recovery Court.

We asked Chip to share a little more about himself and what he enjoys about volunteering with Literacy NRV:

"I have always wanted to find a way to give back and Literacy NRV has provided me a perfect opportunity to do just that. The commitment and support of the organization in achieving this goal is outstanding. I have been a volunteer for 2 years and plan to continue as long as possible.

Each time I meet with a student and I see improvement in their literacy, regardless of what is being taught, it inspires me to want to be an even better tutor.

The most pleasant experiences of my tenure with Literacy NRV are knowing that I helped someone gain confidence in their literacy abilities and achieve their established goals. I would strongly encourage anyone who wants to give back to the community to consider volunteering. It's like a song in my heart."
