Program Coordinator Blake Hritz has been a member of the Literacy NRV staff since January 2023. Blake started with LNRV as a part-time instructor for our Be WELL NRV health literacy classes. He quickly became an indispensable part of the team and has now expanded his responsibilities to include managing all ESOL programming, curriculum development, and volunteer training.
We asked Blake to share some of the reasons that he loves working at Literacy NRV:
What is your favorite thing about working at Literacy NRV?
The people. My coworkers are thoughtful and supportive, with fun senses of humor. The volunteers share so much passion and experience. And especially, the students. There is so much diversity and gratitude among our students. It’s inspiring to be around so many wonderful people in every aspect of my job.
How has your role evolved since you joined Literacy NRV?
Just a year ago, I started as a part-time ESOL instructor for our health literacy classes. I was hired to lead three classes from January to May, 2023. But the need for ESOL classes expanded and I got to stay on at Literacy NRV. Now I am part of the coordinating team. (And I get to teach a class or two.) I’m very grateful to Ginny and the rest of the staff here to keep me working here!
